Former Liverpool defender Markus Babbel has told the club to think about selling Darwin Núñez this summer. He suggested that England’s star striker, Harry Kane, who is 31 years old, could be a great replacement.
Babbel said that Núñez hasn’t been playing well consistently. He believes this is hurting both the player and the team. He explained, “Darwin needs to play regularly to improve. But if Liverpool wants to move on and find a top striker, they should consider Harry Kane. He’s been scoring lots of goals for Bayern Munich and can still do well if he returns to the Premier League.”
Babbel added that Núñez still has the potential to become a top striker if he gains confidence. “I think Núñez has what it takes – he’s strong, skilled, fast – but he’s struggling at Liverpool. Maybe leaving the club would give him a fresh start and help him believe in himself again. Right now, he doesn’t look confident and doesn’t feel like the number one striker, and that’s affecting his performance.”
Even though Kane is under contract at Bayern Munich for over two more years, there’s a special clause that could allow him to leave. So far, he seems happy in Germany. Meanwhile, Núñez is going through a rough patch at Liverpool, and more people are starting to believe he might leave this summer.
